ECOPACK AWARD 2023 TO GALLOPLASTIK

The eco-friendly success of the LessW8 Macroperforated Stretch Film

We are excited about sharing with you some great news: our product โ€œLessW8 Macroperforated Stretch Filmโ€ was awarded in the 2023 edition for the Italian prize of Eco-design.

This recognition confirms our commitment to sustainability and innovation. One of the distinguishing features of the LessW8 Macroperforated Stretch Film is the reduced consumption of raw material which results in a significantly reduced ecological footprint compared to traditional products. To evaluate the ecological impact of our packaging, we used the Italian CONAI (National Packing Authority) Eco Tool, which allowed us to make a simplified LCA study based on the following environmental markers:

โ€ข Global Warming Potential (GWP);
โ€ข Gross Energy Requirement (GER);
โ€ข Water Footprint (H2O).

This study, carried out in collaboration with DNV GLโ€™s certifiers, confirms that the switch to a lighter version of our packaging has actually reduced the environmental impact. This victory is just the beginning of our journey towards a more sustainable future; we will keep on innovation and searching for other ways to further improve our ecological footprint, always preserving the high quality and performance our customers expect.

๐Ÿšจ We are excited to participate in the tenth edition of the “๐๐š๐ง๐๐จ ๐‚๐Ž๐๐€๐ˆ for Packaging Design Innovation and Eco-friendly Solutions Award โ€“ Valorizing Sustainable Development through Innovative Packaging” aimed at rewarding the most innovative and eco-sustainable packaging solutions introduced to the market in the biennium 2021-2022.

As some of you may recall, in the previous edition of the competition, we were awarded for our ‘๐•๐ž๐ซ๐ญ๐ข๐ฌ๐š๐œ๐ค ๐ฅ๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ญ,’ demonstrating our commitment to sustainability.

Our goal is to continue promoting sustainability and ecodesign through innovative solutions, so this year, we have decided to present our new product, “๐…๐ข๐ฅ๐ฆ ๐ž๐ฌ๐ญ๐ž๐ง๐ฌ๐ข๐›๐ข๐ฅ๐ž ๐ฆ๐š๐œ๐ซ๐จ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ๐š๐ญ๐จ ๐‹๐„๐’๐’๐Ÿ–.”

We would like to inform you that the event will take place on the morning of November 16, 2023, at the Triennale in Milan, with the option for a live stream on corriere.it. The list of winners will also be published simultaneously.

GALLOPLASTIK DEFEATS MEGAPLAST IN COURT

Dear Sirs,

Megaplast continues to claim, as the latest news, that they took legal action against Galloplastik and states that “the Court has not issued any decision on the matter yet.”. For your right information and to our great satisfaction, we write to inform you that this claim is now no longer true, in fact:

THE COURT OF VENICE

On July 19th, 2023, as part of the first instance proceedings, dismissed all claims made by MEGAPLAST regarding the patent EP1768837 and recognized that Galloplastik was right and ruled that since their patent EP1768837 lacked of inventive step,

GALLOPLASTIK has never infringed MEGAPLAST’s patent

In addition to that

MEGAPLAST has been sentenced to compensate GALLOPLASTIK
for the legal fees incurred, generai expenses, CTP, CPA, VAT, others/extras and all court-appointed experts’ costs,

for a total amount of 40,000 euros approx.

We expect that MEGAPLAST, in addition to its legal actions, will also give equal publicity to its legal defeats and to the actual value of its patents, since we already issued warnings in the past and we will continue to warn Megaplast against deliberately issuing partial and misleading statements. Therefore, we kindly ask you to be wary of anyone spreading misinformation or slander about Galloplastik and, if you encounter this, to inform us as soon as possible to help us protect our rights, as well as yours rights against those who resort to intimidation and defamation as unfair competition tactics.

Galloplastik vs Megaplast

Recently, many of our customers and suppliers have contacted us concerned about obtaining information regarding a communication concerning Galloplastik, published on Megaplastโ€™s website. Unfortunately, this forces us to clarify Galloplastikโ€™s current position on this issue.

On July 28th, 2022, Megaplast published the following statement on its website:

โ€œIn November 2020, MEGAPLAST Industrial โ€“ Exporting S.A. filed a lawsuit against GALLOPLASTIK S.R.L., on the grounds of EP1768837 patent right infringement. We believe that MEGAPLAST enjoys the exclusive rights for perforated packaging films as claimed in EP1768837, whereas third parties are prohibited from selling or offering for sale products making use of the subject matter of EP1768837 without our consent (see Art 64 (3) European Patent convention).โ€

This information was deliberately disclosed by Megaplast for the sole purpose of unjustly discrediting Galloplastikโ€™s products and reputation.

Hereโ€™s what Megaplast โ€œforgotโ€ to communicate:

On May 9th, 2022, two months before its statement, the consultant of the Court to which Megaplast had turned to establish the violation of its patent by some products of Galloplastik, had reported to the Judge and also to Megaplast that:

Megaplastโ€™s patent EP1768837 was not valid.

None of Galloplastikโ€™s products interfered with Megaplastโ€™s patent EP1768837.

For these reasons, we have already warned Megaplast to refrain from such deliberately partial and misleading statements. We therefore invite you to distrust of anyone who continues to spread news about alleged patent infringements by Galloplastik and, in case this happens, please, promptly inform us so that we can protect our rights and yours against those who practice unfair competition based on intimidation and defamation.

During the latest Interpack fair in Dรผsseldorf, Galloplastikโ€™s booth achieved a big success, a success that we shared with our partners and potential new clients.
